Hiya Amy - welcome back to
planDisney!
I like the way you're thinking, but I'm not able to give you a firm answer to your question. Only Captain Minnie and her crew on the
Disney Wish know all of the exciting things planned for your adventure!
That being said, I've personally had two
Disney Cruise Line sailings where a new feature film was screened in
the theaters on board the night before the film was released in theaters. I don't recall what the first was, but most recently, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was shown on our
Disney Dream sailing in May the night before it came out in theaters.
In general, it's always a possibility, but not something that you should necessarily plan for as a certainty! There are all sorts of licensing and region restrictions on films, so sometimes even if the Captain wants to, it's not an option to show a particular film.
On both sailings where this happened for me, the movie was played pretty late, around 10 or 11 p.m. if I'm remembering correctly. It's also worth noting that it was announced the same day, in the afternoon, so it wasn't something we could really plan for in advance. You could always ask crew members to see if they know anything before a potential announcement is made!
I'm sorry that I can't provide a concrete answer, but I'm crossing my fingers that you'll get to enjoy Avatar: The Way of Water while floating in ... water! Thanks for trusting us to help you with your vacation planning, Amy!
