Hi Ryan, we will be heading to WDW for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Do you know if/how the DAS will work with the event? And if we would have the option to book Advanced DAS for it?

Hiya Eric - welcome to planDisney!

Thanks so much for stopping by with a question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is always a highlight of the holiday season for my crew. There is so much to love - I can't even try to list all of my favorite things! I do know that something near the top of my list is significantly reduced wait times for attractions. The last time I attended, we walked on numerous attractions without any wait, but did have to wait a short bit for the infamous Jingle Cruise! While you're unlikely to encounter too much waiting, I do understand how the Disability Access Service (DAS) might be helpful if any attractions do get busier.

Guests based in the United States can pre-register for DAS online starting 30 days prior (but at least two days prior) to their arrival. If eligible, a Cast Member will assist you in selecting DAS Advance selections - these provide you with a one-hour return window for an attraction, and you'll be assisted in booking up to two per day. DAS Advance selections will likely only be available until the park closes to non-party Guests (on most nights this is 7 p.m.), and only if you have valid admission and a Park Pass Reservation for Magic Kingdom Park for that day (separate from the party ticket).

As a party Guest, you will have access to Magic Kingdom Park starting at 4 p.m., so you should have no problem obtaining DAS return times until the park closes to regular Guests. With the introduction of the new DAS system in the My Disney Experience Mobile App, we don't yet know how return times will be handled during the party, or if they will be offered. I can share a recent experience I had attending Disney Vacation Club's Moonlight Magic, a private nighttime event similar to the holiday parties. One Guest in our party had DAS, and while they were not able to make any return time selections within the app, we were provided special access to some attractions that had longer waits. We simply showed the Cast Member at the attraction entrance our DAS information on the app!

So, long story short, I think it's unlikely you'll be able to make DAS Advance selections for during the party, and may not be able to select return times. If you do end up needing accommodations during the party for any longer lines, the Cast Members should be able to help you out! Of course, this could all change by the time November rolls around, so I encourage you to complete the DAS online pre-registration 30 days prior to your trip and pose these questions to that Cast Member to get some updates!

Enjoy your visit during the holiday season! You'll have all of those festivities plus the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration to look forward to - it's going to be magical! I hope I've helped answer your question, and feel free to stop by again with more!
