I am running the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in November. I have never run a night-time run before. What advice do you have regarding timing of pre-race meals and park planning. Should we plan to visit the parks the day of or the day after the event?

    Hi Lois!

First, I LOVE the Wine and Dine Half Marathon!  It's my absolute favorite of all the runDisney races!  You are going to have a blast!!

For your meals, my biggest recommendation is to do a "practice run".  By this, I mean on one of your long-run training days, eat what you plan to eat for race day and wear what you plan to wear, and then do a long run that night.  This will help simulate the race experience and you can see if that works for you, or if you need to make any adjustments.

I prefer to eat an early dinner (around 5), and then do some pre-race snacking around 8.  I take a bagel with peanut butter and a banana with me to the race and eat it while I'm waiting to get in my corral.  For my dinner,  I usually stick with something very bland.  Either a sandwich or some pasta with a light sauce.

As for the parks, I prefer to go the day after.  The day of the race always carries some nerves for me, so the day after can be a much more relaxed park day!  I like to sleep in late, and then celebrate my race by going to my favorite park!

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions;)
