We are running the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in November. Our kids (ages 5 & 3) and grandma want to watch us near the beginning, because they could not stay awake for our finish. Are there spectator areas near the start? Return hotel buses for them?

Hi Ann!  You can go to the Wine and Dine half marathon website to see the course details.  You click on "event details" and then "course"on the left hand side.  There really aren't any good spots along the beginning of the course for spectators to go that are relying on Disney transportation.  There are always people lined up along the Osceola Parkway, but they are not using the buses to be transported back to the resorts.
Most of the places your family could see you would be near the finish line, and I do understand that it will be very late.
I hope this helps you.  You could always have your children take long naps during the day for the after-party.  Or you can do what my husband and I do: let them sleep and have a night out to ourselves!  Either way, I hope you have a great race!  The Wine and Dine half is my favorite of all the runDisney events!
