I am running the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and I am not staying at a host resort. We are staying at the Contemporary so I was going to take the monorail to Epcot to catch a bus for the race start but is taking a taxi back after the race my only option?

The Wine and Dine is my favorite half marathon! I am really excited for it again this year!

You are correct that the monorail will not be running after the finish line party, so you would need to arrange for a taxi in advance. There may be some in the parking lot of Epcot waiting, but I wouldn't count on it. You can check at your resort's front desk about cab companies they recommend or deal with.
