We're running the WDW marathon this January and I'm baffled and overwhelmed with making dining reservations so far in advance. We'd like the flexibility of choosing where and when to eat once there. Is it really necessary to plan and reserve?

Hi Geysa!  I understand your thoughts on making dining reservations so far in advance.  I often don't know what I am going to make the next night at home much less what I will want six months ahead.  But you are heading to the most popular vacation spot in the world and so a little pre planning can make your stay a bit easier.  The marathon week will be a bit more crowded in the parks so I do suggest you read through some of the great dining restaurants on property to see if there are a few you would like to try.  Please click HERE.

You know the day you will be running (and I commend you who take on this great fete!) and so look at the other days and maybe plot out a few of them in specific parks.  From there you can find a great spot in each to make a reservation.  As the time gets closer and you are not feeling the same about your plans you can always cancel and make new ones.  The dinner shows and some character meals are the only ones you would have to pre pay using a credit card.

There are also many great counter service locations in the parks. If you don't feel like you will need or want table service dining then you will not need to make these pre reservations.  That would allow you more flexibility.  Our family enjoys the relaxation and rest that comes with a table service meal.
