I will be running the 5k Princess run in Feb 2025. I was wondering do we need to buy spectator passes for our family to be at the finish line?

    Hi, Shari!

Welcome to planDisney! And if this is your first runDisney race, congratulations on joining the runDisney family! You’re in for an incredible experience filled with excitement, character photo opportunities, high-energy music, runners in fun costumes, and the special magic only Disney can provide. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just getting started, runDisney events are unlike any other. There's truly nothing like crossing that finish line with Mickey and friends cheering you on!

You’ll be happy to know that spectator passes aren’t required for your family to be at the finish line of the 5K. They’re welcome to come cheer you on as you cross the finish line!  As race day gets closer, keep an eye out for the official Digital Expo & Event Guide, which will include a course map. This will give your family all the information they need and possibly provide them with a chance to find other fun spots along the course where they can cheer for you. For example, spectators can line up along Main Street, U.S.A., during the half marathon in Magic Kingdom to watch runners make their way through this iconic spot. When I ran the 10K during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend a few years back, my mom woke up extra early to cheer me on from Disney's BoardWalk, right outside Stormalong Bay at Disney's Beach Club Resort. It’s one of my favorite memories of race weekend, and I know your family will love supporting you, too.

Before your race, I’ve got a few tips for you. First, bring some “throw-down” clothes to keep warm while waiting in your corral. Don’t worry, all items left behind are donated to charity, so you’ll be helping a good cause! Make sure to hydrate well the day before and try to get to bed early since the race starts at the crack of dawn (5 AM). Finally, and most importantly, don’t stress about your time. Soak in every moment, take photos with characters, and enjoy the experience, it’s what makes runDisney events so special.

I’m cheering for you, Shari! You’ve got this, and I hope your run is filled with many memories from start to finish. If you have any more questions, sprint back to planDisney and drop me a line!

Good luck, and see you real soon (at the finish line),
    Brent
