Hi I am running the Princess 1/2 Marathon next month and am staying at a non-Disney hotel (using my points) 3 miles from Epcot parking lot.. How much time do I need to drive to the start? This is my 2nd Disney race. 1994 Marathon finisher.

    Hi Rose!

Congratulations on completing the 1994 Marathon!  I just finished my first-ever marathon (Disney World 2013) last week and it was amazing!

For the Princess Half, the time of travel really depends on what time you leave.  If you leave early (like I like to), around 3 a.m., you should only have about a 10 or 15 minute drive.  However, as the race gets closer, traffic gets really bad, and it will take closer to 45 minutes or an hour.  I have driven myself to the starting line twice for Princess, and both times I left by 3 a.m.  The stress of traffic is not what I need before a race.  There is so much fun at the starting area that the wait goes by quickly.  I always take my breakfast in a bag and eat it while waiting and stretching.  Then I dance to the DJ's music to warm up a bit before taking the walk to the corrals.

I know 3 a.m. is early, but I think you will be happy that you avoid the race traffic.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Good luck at the Princess!
