Hello I am running the princess half marathon and my husband with my 3 year old son would like to spectate/cheer me at MK during my run. How do they get to the park from the all star resort? We don’t have a car so they can’t drive is there transportation?

Hey there Loren, thanks for running your question by us here at planDisney!

When it comes to the fast-paced and competitive world of runDisney, I'm so glad that you came to me with a question about spectating - since that's definitely more my speed. This past year I wanted to show my support for our planDisney pals participating in the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, so you can watch my spectating experience on planDisney social media, and I'm happy to share how I was able to make it to Main Street U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park to cheer them on:

    • There is complimentary shuttle bus transportation with signage indicating the departure times that you'll often find in the lobby at each of the Disney Resort Hotels for runners and their adoring friends and family! (Due to the road closures and detours that inevitably result in a little bit of traffic between destinations on race mornings, I found that using Disney Resort Transportation was the most efficient way of getting around until the events had concluded and roadways reopened.)
    • In the morning I noticed quite a few folks already raring to go between 2:00 A.M. and 3:00 A.M. with most runners already boarding these shuttles that rapidly filled up for those eager to make it to their early starting corrals. Supporters and spectators had a little bit of leeway to get going a little bit later, and I ended up arriving at EPCOT around 4:30 A.M. and waited to board the Monorail headed to Magic Kingdom Park.
    • The ride itself is exciting as at this time of the morning so many of the racers were well underway and it was certainly a sight to behold; I watched as thousands of people in colorful outfits encouraged and spurred each other on in the darkness on the way to Cinderella Castle and the monorail cabins would experience a flurry of excitement with each occasional sighting of rare Characters along the way from above.
    • As I arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), everyone looking to head to Magic Kingdom Park had to transfer between monorail lines and there were already quite a few spectators who remained to cheer on some of the first racers to make it that far. Upon arrival at Magic Kingdom Park, spectators were permitted free entry and I was delighted to stroll right in to find a spot along Main Street, U.S.A. which was divided in half to allow racers past.
    • While spectating guests were only permitted within certain blocked off areas, the Emporium was open as well as Casey's Corner (with a limited beverage menu). My planDisney pals Lauren and LeAndra who were running let me know the best spot across from the Main Street Confectionery where your family can keep an eye out for you as you arrive; this spot was also where so many racers would see Cinderella Castle for the first time and start crying, which was always such a special thing to see!
Here's to achieving personal goals and cheering on your loved ones at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
