Hi there, Vanessa, and welcome to planDisney!
The
Hakuna Matata 10-Miler is going to be a fun walk (or run) on the wild side! I completed the runDisney Springtime Surprise Toy Story 10-Miler last year and it is now one of my favorite race distances. You are in for seeing rare Pixar and Disney character meet and greets, making connections with other runners, and so much more.
Seeing your family and friends along the course will definitely be the boost that you may need as you race between the theme parks. They are welcome to bring their signs and cheers on the sidelines on certain sections of the route.
The most convenient- and easiest-to-predict spots for them to spectate are on the sidelines near the race's start and finish line. Because the course for this race hasn't been released yet (expect to see that announced a week or two before the race weekend), I'm not sure about which theme parks the race will include. However, if it's like last year's, there is a section that goes through the
Disney's BoardWalk area. This is the perfect spot for your family to cheer you on mid-race.
The race begins for the first corral at 5 a.m. The time for them to be in place at the various cheering locations depends on which corral you're in and your personal pace. For example, for the
runDisney Princess Half Marathon, a friend of mine waited for me and another running panelist down Main Street, U.S.A. I communicated with him via my Apple Watch to update him on how close I was to him. You could also share your location on your device as well.
Vanessa, I hope that you enjoy every magical mile!
Revisit us here at planDisney if you have additional Disney vacation planning questions. Any one of the panelists would be more than happy to help.
Magic always,
