Hi Louise,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I am so excited to hEAR that you will be running the
Walt Disney World Marathon! This race is on my bucket list, and I will be chEARing for you and all the other runners in January.
I nursed and pumped when my Mouseketeers were babies, and as a runner, I love seeing more and more news stories about fierce Mommas crushing their goals while expressing milk on race courses around the world. I trained for a half marathon when nursing, and I remember nursing my son right before leaving for my runs, and then having my husband waiting at the door with the baby so we could nurse the minute I walked in the door. The engorgement struggle is real!
Louise, I called runDisney with your question because I couldn’t find anything in the
official race weekend policies. The Cast Member I spoke with said that lactating mothers are welcome to pump breast milk on the race course, provided they use a nursing cover. You are allowed to run with a backpack to store your pump and anything else you may need. If you have any further questions about the rules and policies, please contact runDisney at (407) 939-4786.
Enjoy the rest of your training, and have the best time out there on the race course! Along with keeping up with your training plan, be sure to read the
Disney Parks Blog for all the news about race weekend. There are so many magical moments during a runDisney race, so be sure to really savor it all. After you’ve gone the distance, enjoy eating
all the Mickey-shaped snacks and treats – you earned them!
Wishing you a magical race and a magical vacation,
Robyn
