Hi Stacey!
Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I am so excited that you're going to run the
Walt Disney World Marathon! I think you will love the course and have 26.2 magical miles!
So, I'm not sure where you're staying. If you are staying at one of the
Walt Disney World Resorts on the monorail (Grand Floridian Resort, Contemporary Resort or Polynesian Village Resort), then they will simply take the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). Otherwise, they will want to be on one of the runDisney buses by 5 a.m. These buses stop running for two hours after that, before starting back up to take Guests back to their resorts from the finish area at 7 a.m. These times are based on how it has worked in year's past. They will likely be similar in 2019, but the official schedule will be printed in the Official Event Guide a few weeks prior to your event. The runDisney bus will take them to the Epcot parking lot and from there they will take the monorail to the TTC.
From Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to Disney's Boardwalk, I recommend they take the monorail to Magic Kingdom Park, and then a bus to Disney's Boardwalk Inn. Technically, they could take the bus from the Polynesian to Disney's Hollywood Studios and walk to the Boardwalk area, but that pathway will be closed off for runners. There is a ferry that runs from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk, but I think the monorail to Magic Kingdom, then bus to Boardwalk Inn would be faster for them
I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions as you get ready for your race.
