Hello, Lorraine! Thanks for running by with your question.
runDisney races are my favorite so I'm so happy to hear that you'll be doing the
Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon next fall. You will have a frighteningly good time!
Your family is welcome to cheer you on during the race! However, unlike Walt Disney World
runDisney races, spectators are not allowed to cheer runners on from inside the theme parks so they will need to cheer you on along other parts of the race course or at the finish line, where there is usually a spectator area. Based on the most recent
runDisney events, a few weeks before your race you will get a digital expo guide that gives you all the information you'll need to give them to cheer you on during the race. Usually, there are some great spots along Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard for cheering, but you'll know for sure once the course map is released. If your family would like to visit the theme parks on the day of the race, they will need to purchase theme park tickets to do so but they won't need them to cheer you on.
One thing is for certain, please let your family know to allow extra time for moving around the
Disneyland Resort area on race morning. There are road closures and limited access during the race, and it will be important to give themselves time to get there, park, and through security if they want to cheer you on near the resort. This is also a good tip for runners, whether staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel or driving in - give yourself plenty of time to get to the start time. You'll want to focus on your race and rushing to get there is not the best way to mentally prepare yourself for going the distance!
Lorraine, will we ever see you again? I sure hope so! Please visit us again if you have any other questions. I love talking
runDisney!
See you in the future,
Melissa
