I am running in the half marathon next weekend and staying in the Wilderness lodge, no buses leave directly from this resort in the morning - what is best way to get to race? Best time to leave? And do we really have to be there at 5am for last start time?

Hi Alison!  The best way for you to get to the race would be to arrange for a cab to take you.  You can check at your front desk, and they will make sure there will be one for you race morning.  Be sure you give the cab driver the road closures and directions that will be available at your resort front desk.  Traditional ways to get to the Epcot parking lot will not work because of road closures.
Depending on when you leave, it can take you up to 45 minutes to get to the parking lot area for drop off.  Traffic is really backed up on race mornings and the cab will not be able to go the quickest route.  Keep in mind that after you get to the starting tent area, there is also a pretty good walk (about 20 minutes), to get to the actual starting line and in your corral.  You will definitely want to be walking from the tents to the start line no later than 4:45.  The walk is actually a great way to warm up and loosen your muscles for the race.  The first corral is scheduled to start at 5:45 a.m. with the other corrals starting in waves about five minutes apart after that.
I like to be early for races so I usually leave my resort no later than 3:30 a.m.  If I were you, I would not leave any later than 4.
I hope this helps!  Good luck next weekend and have a great race!!!
