Hey, howdy, hey, Andrea!
Yeehaw! This September, it will be your chance to "ride like the wind" as you take on the runDisney challenge of the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend at the Disneyland Resort.
I cheered on runners during Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend about a month ago. My planDisney pal Andrew was even running in the race. It was exciting to watch as the athletes streamed by. And the appreciative energy they returned to me was infectious. It was an exhilarating morning at The Happiest Place on Earth!
As you plan your trip, I recommend staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotels. My family stayed at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. So it was easy to get up early and walk to places where spectators could cheer on the runners. A few weeks before your race, you should receive an Official Digital Expo & Event Guide. That guide will contain information about the race course and locations along the race where your family could gather to support you. In recent races, there have not been special spectator packages made available for runDisney events at the Disneyland Resort. They are welcome to offer their support from the side of public roads along the race course or publicly accessible locations within the Disneyland Resort.
For most races, I would suggest that your fans choose to greet you in the esplanade between the main entrances of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. They'll need to be there very early, basically about the same time the race starts, as you and the other runners will be passing through there very early in the course. Check the race course information in the digital guide for details on the course. During the recent Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, I chose to stand on the corner of Disneyland Drive across the street from Pixar Place Hotel. For the half marathon course, this location was where runners exited Disney California Adventure Park before the remainder of the race which would be run only on city streets. I even met some spectators who started cheering near the race starting line, then moved over to this location to continue to encourage their loved ones as the race progressed.
Tony's Tip: Your family may wish to stop by the front desk of your Disneyland Resort Hotel for more information. When I visited the front desk of the Disneyland Hotel, they happened to have runDisney signs that they gave me for free. It was fun to customize my sign with my friend's name so I could wave it during the race to get his attention. This may or may not be a guaranteed offering. So they may wish to have other signs or items to help make the cheering squad activities fun for everyone.
Good luck with your race, Andrea. I hope you and your family have a spooktacular time at this unique Halloween-themed runDisney event.
See ya real soon!
