    I am going to be running the Goofy Challenge in January 2013 and currently have reservations at the Wilderness Lodge. We are thinking about changing to a resort closer to the start - is the Beach Club (or another resort) within walking distance?

    Hi Chip!  Congratulations on signing up for Goofy!  That is awesome!

    The Beach Club (and all other Epcot area resorts) are technically closer to the race start since the race begins in the Epcot parking lot.  However, they really aren't within walking distance to the start because you won't be able to walk through Epcot to get there since it won't be open that early in the morning.  Runners staying at the Epcot resorts will also use the runDisney buses to get to the starting area.

    You would be able to walk back to your resort after the race, but only if you have a ticket to get into Epcot.  The race will end back in the Epcot parking lot, and you can walk to the back of the park and exit the International Gateway and be at the area where the Epcot resorts are located. 

    My family usually stays at either Beach Club or Boardwalk, simply because Epcot is our favorite park and we love being able to walk to it so easily.  It does come in handy after the races, but if you are simply looking at the starting line times, the buses will be the way to go no matter which resort you are in.
