Hi Jacqueline! The Wine and Dine Half Marathon is my favorite runDisney race! You will love the nighttime atmosphere and of course, the post-race party is so much fun!
There will be a lot of run/walkers in the race. Disney has an official trainer,
Jeff Galloway, who developed his own run/walk/run method of running a race. While there are still a lot of "runners only", there is a significant percentage of people in Disney races (and most others) that use a run/walk/run interval method. It has opened the door for people out there who otherwise would not be able to compete in things like half and full marathons. This is a good thing for our country's health!
With that being said, I also understand the frustration of trying to get around someone when you are trying to run the whole way or even get a personal best time. My advice would be to do a 10K race or above before the Wine and Dine. You can bring your
proof of time to the runners relations booth at the expo during packet pick-up and they may be able to move you into the first or second corrals. The first corral is reserved for the faster runners, and therefore you would not run into the problem of getting around walkers. The second corral may have some run/walkers, but you could position yourself toward the front and still not have the walkers be an issue.
You may want to at least check out the link I provided to Jeff Galloway's training programs. They aren't for everyone, but I have run many half marathons, some only running and some using the run/walk/run method. All of my best times have come from the run/walk/run races!
I hope this helps! Have a great race!
