Greetings Hugo! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thanks for taking a break in your marathon training to stop by with your planning question. I'd be happy to assist you today.
Congratulations on registering for your very first marathon! While I have yet to
go the distance and attempt the full 42 kilometers, I am a veteran half-marathon runner, and
runDisney races offer a unique opportunity to combine my love of running with visiting the Disney Parks. I can't wait for you to dash through
Cinderella Castle!
I'm glad to hEAR you're planning to stay onsite at a
Walt Disney World Resort during your adventure as bus transportation to and from race weekend events is provided to resort guests. Be sure to check with a front desk Cast Member for bus schedules. To make sure you are prepared for the
5:30 AM marathon start time, you'll want to catch a bus in plenty of time to line up in your corral, enjoy the pre-race atmosphere, and maybe visit a restroom before the fun begins. I recommend hopping on one of the first buses available for a worry-free arrival experience. You've put in the training kilometers, and the excitement of race day is your reward. Hakuna Matata!
Hugo,
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is a fantastic choice for race weekend. At an EPCOT area resort, you're just a stone's throw away from the start and finish lines. When you aren't lacing up your running shoes, be sure to take flight on the
Disney Skyliner, which connects this resort to both
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
EPCOT. I suggest scheduling some post-race relaxation time at the
Fuentes del Morro feature pool with a celebratory beverage from
Banana Cabana. I will wish upon a star that some warm weather comes your way in January!
Best of luck as you embark on your training journey! I hope you have some great Disney tunes to listen to while you're dashing off to infinity and beyond. A few favorites that keep me going are
Almost There from the
Princess & the Frog,
Touch the Sky from
Brave, and pretty much anything from
Hercules.
Wishing you magical miles,
Betsy
