I will be running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon next year (February 2015) and will be bringing my 22 month old daughter for her first trip to Disney. Where is the best place to stay and what do I need to plan on to make it a successful trip?

    Hi, Jamie!

When it comes to selecting the perfect "castle" for your fairytale weekend, you can't go wrong with any of the options available at Walt Disney World Resort. However, I highly recommend staying at a host hotel-- these are select resorts that provide transportation to all race events with several options available in each resort category, from value to deluxe. Unfortunately, travel package and host hotel information has not yet been released for the 2015 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Keep an eye on the Travel Tab on the runDisney website, this is where information can be found as we near registration. If you can, I suggest trying to book at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Your little princess will love being immersed in her favorite Disney movies.

Another logistic to consider is childcare. Do you have someone to assist you with this while you run? If not, please let me know, I have suggestions.

Speaking of your princess, she has the opportunity to participate in the runDisney Kids' Races 100 meter dash and earn a finishers medallion just like you! She'll be so proud as she sports her "bling" around the parks. Registration for the Kids' Races will open in July with all other races.

Lastly, don't over plan your park days, I speak from experience on this! You won't want to wear yourself out before you even get to the race. If possible, try to schedule the vacation portion of your trip for after the race is complete. This way, you'll have the opportunity to really enjoy both experiences.

I hope this information gives you a good starting point, Jamie. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions you may have as you plan and prepare for an enchanted weekend.

    Happy Running!
