Hi Kimberly,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question, my fellow runDisney runner!
The crowds cheering for runners are probably one of my favourite parts of any
runDisney race. The energy that you get from them and the boost that you get from giggling at a particularly creative sign really do make these races special.
I’ve had my family waiting for me at the finish line before, and it’s always a special moment to be able to wave to them in those final few moments. I’m happy to say that there is race transportation available to Guests staying in all
Disney Resorts Collection hotels during race weekends. These buses are not only running bright and early to get runners to the start line, but also to bring spectators to the finish line, too!
Based on past experience, while
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend runners staying at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort typically need to take bus transportation to the race’s start, spectators who are looking to cheer may be able to take the
Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation to EPCOT once the service starts running at about 7 am. Depending on how quickly you plan to run, your Mom and son should be able to get to the finish line in plenty of time to cheer! I’d highly recommend that you speak to a Cast Member at your
Resort’s Front Desk during your stay to get a really good sense of what your transportation options are the morning of the half marathon.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions about your upcoming “race-cation”! I’ve run every runDisney race, so I have lots of tips and tricks for getting how to combine early-morning races with a day full of Disney fun in the Theme Parks!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
