When you run the Disney marathon, you finish at Epcot...can you stay in the park and ride the rides or do you need a separate ticket? Thank you!!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Andrea!

And thank you so much for your question - this is a good one, as I know it can be a little confusing as to where exactly the finish lines are located.

While the finish line for the marathon is located at Epcot®, it is not located inside the actual theme park, but in the Imagine Lot section of Epcot's parking lot. Runners will enter Epcot Theme Park just before mile 25 and run around World Showcase, after a right turn toward Future World you will then run through a backstage area and exit the theme park with the last .2 miles being in the parking lot. If you wish to enter Epcot® post-race, you will need a theme park ticket and will enter the park at the front entrance as the day guests do. There are actually no runDisney events at Walt Disney World® Resort that have finish-lines that end inside of a theme park, they all end in parking lots do to the thousands and thousands of runners and spectators.

But here's a fun tip: When participating in the full marathon (not the half marathon), and if the course stays the same as previous years, you could potentially ride Expedition Everest when you run past it at about mile 12 1/2 in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. As long as the park has opened for the day at 9:00am when you run through, you could ride this attraction - during the middle of the marathon, that's pretty cool!

I hope this helps, Andrea! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me again if you should have any additional questions. I am here to help you understand what to expect during your runDisney experience.
