Welcome to planDisney, Lindsay!
Around here, it's never too early to start dreaming of your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
I think you'll love your time at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. The incredible theming always makes me feel as if I've woken up in the middle of New Orleans, Louisiana rather than central Florida, and the Mickey beignets at
Scat Cat's Club - Café even have Crescent City local
Alison's stamp of approval! Although I have always loved this Disney Resort hotel because of its compact size and delicious dining, the Guest photos I have seen of the newly refurbished rooms may just make this one of my favorite magical homes away from home!
Like you, I have an upcoming stay at Port Orleans - French Quarter, so I reached out to a helpful Cast Member to inquire about the ongoing refurbishment. She informed me that some Guest rooms have been completed, and the refurbishment is still underway at this time. She also added that while the estimated completion date remains November, it remains unclear if all Guest rooms will be undergoing refurbishment within this time frame. In my experience, the Walt Disney World Resort website does not update
room photos to reflect a Resort Hotel's refurbishment until all Guest rooms are complete, so I suggest checking the website in December to see if the refurbishment alert (in red on the hotel's main webpage) or room photos have been modified.
Even if all buildings have not been refurbished before your vacation, you can always denote a request for one of the refurbished rooms during your stay when you complete the online check-in process or by calling
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations. Although, room requests cannot be guaranteed, in my experience Cast Members make every effort to accommodate Guests when possible.
I'm sorry that I was unable to provide you with a definitive answer, Lindsay, but I hope this was helpful for you as you continue to plan. If you have any additional questions, feel free to
stop back by. I'm always happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
