Hi Teresa, it's my greatest pleasure to welcome you to planDisney! Thanks so much for bringing us your question.
Disney's Pop Century Resort sure is a swell pick! The larger-than-life theming, pull-down Table Beds, Hippy Dippy Pool, hard floors throughout (great for any allergy sensitivities), and access to the Disney Skyliner make this Resort a favored choice.
To answer your question, yes, the 80's section (building 9) of Disney's Pop Century Resort are considered standard rooms or standard pool view rooms. Standard rooms at Walt Disney World Resort hotels are well equipped with amenities - you'll find a coffee maker, a small refrigerator (great for any leftover Mickey-shaped snacks), and a hair dryer within your 260 square feet of accommodation.
To request a room, I first suggest ensuring your party is linked and your reservation added to
My Disney Experience. Then during the
online check-in process in My Disney Experience, there is a section about room requests with two separate drop-down boxes. You could choose a room type within the 80s section of the resort. You can also prioritise having your room ready over the room requests. While requests aren't guaranteed, Cast Members will do their best to meet Guest needs.
I hope this information helps you to have an enchanting stay at the Most Magical Place on Earth, Teresa. There are so many unforgettable memories to be made! Please let me know if I can help with anything else, Louise.
