I have 2 rooms for 5 adults for 5 nights booked at Pop Century later this year but is it worth switching to one room at the Contemporary Hotel (Garden Wing) when its roughly the same price? Is there enough room with 2 queen beds and a day bed for 5 adults?

    Hi there, Sophie!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. When it comes to Walt Disney World, I love the resorts just as much as the theme parks. I've stayed at every hotel in the Disney Resorts Collection except Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, so I'd be happy to help you compare Disney's Contemporary Resort to Disney's Pop Century Resort.

The guest rooms at Disney's Contemporary Resort are some of the largest standard rooms on the property. Five adults can sleep comfortably in two queen beds and one daybed, and you'll find ample storage space for clothing and empty suitcases. If you choose this option, I recommend requesting a ground-floor room to access an outdoor patio and expand your living space.

As Disney Deluxe Resort Guests, your entire party would also be eligible for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours if they're offered during your stay. Garden Wing rooms are also close to the resort's main building and amenities. I stayed in a Garden Wing room a few years ago, and my favorite feature was the walking path to Magic Kingdom Park. It took me approximately 15 minutes to casually walk from my room to the theme park entrance. I especially appreciated the walkability in the evening when buses and monorails were busy.

Two rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort still provide your party with onsite benefits like Early Theme Park Entry and advance purchase of Individual Lightning Lanes. This resort is also situated along the Disney Skyliner, so you can travel to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios in a fun and efficient way. When my friends and I travel together, we almost always stay here and request connecting rooms.

I love both of these resorts, but since I prefer Disney Deluxe Resort perks, I see only one drawback to switching from two rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort to one room at Disney's Contemporary Resort: one bathroom. The question you'll need to ask yourself is this. Do the extra amenities at Disney's Contemporary Resort (monorail transportation, theme park walking path, more resort dining options, Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, and water slides at the feature pool) outweigh the benefit of having two bathrooms for five people rather than just one? If you choose one room at Disney's Contemporary Resort, here's a quick tip based on my experience growing up in a family of five. Consider sending one or two people to the poolside locker rooms and showers when everyone is trying to get ready at once! Find them near the Sand Bar adjacent to the marina and feature pool.

I hope I've helped with your decision, Sophie. You can't go wrong with either resort, and I know you'll have a fantastic time no matter where you stay. Thanks for sending your question our way, and we can't wait to welcome you "home" soon!
