For the romance packages on DCL. Does anyone know what type of wine is in that package? Is it white red? Have you ordered it and did you like the wine? Do you have photos of the bottle of wine that you received?

    Ahoy, Tracy!

Welcome back to planDisney! I always enjoy browsing those Onboard Gifts before a sailing. It feels a bit like setting the stage for your own “Be Our Guest” moment, where everything is ready and waiting to welcome you onboard in style. Those romance packages can definitely add a little extra sparkle to your stateroom, so let’s uncork the details.

The type of wine included in those packages can vary depending on which one you choose and is subject to availability. Most of the options lean toward sparkling wines rather than a traditional still red or white. Typically, you’ll see a few different choices: a nonalcoholic sparkling option like Missing Thorn Sparkling White, or alcoholic selections such as Cake Bake Sparkling Rosé or Bottega Spumante. The Bottega is often the gold or white gold bottle, which you might recognize if you’ve seen it around onboard. “Spumante” is simply the Italian term for sparkling wine, so you’re essentially getting something in the bubbly family rather than a flat red or white.

While I haven’t personally ordered one of the full romance packages, my wife and I have tried both the Cake Bake sparkling option and the Bottega. Between the two, I preferred the Cake Bake. It had a smoother, slightly sweeter taste to me, while the Bottega felt a bit more crisp and traditional. Of course, taste is always personal, so what feels like a glass slipper fit for one Guest might not be the perfect match for another.

I wish I could share photos with you because those bottles, especially the Bottega, definitely have a bit of a “showstopper on the table” look to them, but unfortunately that’s one bit of magic I can’t send through the screen.

If those included options don’t quite match what you’re looking for, you’ve still got plenty of flexibility. There are additional wine packages available through Onboard Gifts or once you’re onboard, and one of my favorite tips is that you can bring up to two bottles of wine (750 ml each) per Guest (age 21 and older) in your carry-on on embarkation day and at each port. That’s a great way to make sure your personal favorite makes the trip with you.

I hope this helps give you a better idea of what to expect so you can choose the perfect package for your sailing. Whether you go with one of the onboard options or bring your own, you’ll have plenty of ways to toast to a magical vacation.

Sea ya real soon with warm air, calm seas, and a ship that always feels like home,
