Riverside or French Quarter? we are a group of 10, 3 kids.. we can't decide.. want a great pool and good food and relaxing close rooms.. help ...your opinions??

Hi there Jone!  Welcome to the Moms Panel!  I am so happy to have the opportunity to assist you in the planning of your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation!

While I love both properties at Port Orleans Resort, based on your desire for relaxing rooms in a convenient location, I think I'll have to recommend French Quarter.  Although this hotel is categorized as "moderate,"  you will be amazed at all the extra little classy touches that make French Quarter feel like a Deluxe level resort.  Sizewise, French Quarter is one of the smallest moderate resorts, and to be honest, the intimate setting is very similar to that of a boutique hotel.  French Quarter is really quaint and quite and I think you'll love it! Riverside is much larger and the walking distance between your room and the main areas may be longer than at French Quarter. There are also many more bus stops at Riverside compared to French Quarter.

Both Riverside and French Quarter have fabulous pool areas, but as a guest of Port Orleans, you will be permitted to "pool hop" between both properties!  Riverside's Ol' Man Island Pool area is one of my favorites, with it's Sawmill water slide and many waterfalls and play areas!  With that being said, French Quarter's Doubloon Lagoon is fantastic and is considered by many to be the BEST pool in all of WDW!  Your kiddies will really enjoy the Dragon slide!

As far as food, both resorts feature unique food courts where you can easily grab a quick snack and Riverside is home to Boatwright's a full-service restaurant! The French Quarter's food court Sassagoula Floatworks has the BEST beignets... you MUST try them!  Plus, you can easily travel by boat between Riverside and French Quarter as well as Downtown Disney!

Hope this helps and that you will let me know if you think of any other questions! -Amanda F.
