Debra, I'm excited to hEAR that you are planning to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth during the
Most Magical season! After Christmas is a great time to soak up the last few days of the holidays before the new year dawns. My family and I love strolling down
Main Street, U.S.A. with a
hot drink in hand while pausing to take pictures of the gorgeous Christmas decorations. I also can't get enough of the mid-century-designed Christmas decorations at
Disney's Hollywood Studios. I could spend days just enjoying the ambiance of yesteryear!
Now, on to your question about your visit to
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort... Debra, this is one of my FAVORITE
Disney Vacation Club Resorts and I hope you love your stay. First, before we talk recreation, make sure to
keep checking the park hours. Often you will find that as your date gets closer, park hours will be extended. This isn't a guarantee, but when Tinker Bell has extra pixie dust, she likes to spread it around.
If you find yourself back at your resort with time to spare, make sure to check out the schedule for
Movies Under the Stars. You and your whole family can kick back and enjoy a Disney classic outdoors. Just make sure to pack some warm clothing because once the Florida sun sets in December, you'll be surprised at how cool the evenings can get.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort also has fun outdoor games, like giant checkers and shuffleboard, that my kids love. If the weather isn't prime for outdoor fun, head over to the Community Hall. Here you will find indoor games like ping pong and craft opportunities. I would recommend stopping by the Community Hall when you first arrive to see what is available. I also encourage you to ask about Mickey tie-dye. This is a special paid extra that is hosted by a Cast Member. While the schedule isn't available online, you can find out more upon check-in.
Finally, Debra, if you're hoping to maximize your time in the parks, I have found that saying yes to some snacks during the day in favor of a late night dinner allows us to squeeze in a few more favorite attractions! If you think that schedule would work for your family, I highly recommend
The Wave... of American Flavors! Conveniently located on the first floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort, this restaurant is a hidden gem. Debra, you can make dining reservations 60 days in advance of your arrival and currently The Wave... of American Flavors is showing dinner time options as late as 9:00 PM.
