Hi Gayle!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. As a fellow Hoosier, I know we probably don’t go to Walt Disney World as often as we’d like. Since a permanent move to Florida isn’t in my current plans, I like to follow the
Disney Parks Blog for the most up to date and accurate information and Disney Parks news.
You may be familiar with the
minimum height requirements listed at some attractions throughout the theme parks. Gayle, there are currently no weight restrictions for attractions at Walt Disney World Resort. Depending on your body type, you may want to utilize the test vehicle near the entrance to
TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise. If you are unable to comfortably sit on the Lightcycle, there are accessible vehicles with lap bars. Just let a Cast Member know when you reach the loading area of the attraction, and they will direct you to the accessible seats.
Disability Access Service (DAS) is offered to Guests who have difficulty waiting in queues for long periods of time due to disability. You can
register at Guest Relations on the day of your first theme park visit, or you may
register in advance by using live video chat with a Cast Member. You can register virtually 2-30 days before your arrival, but I recommend doing it around that 30-day mark. With Disability Access Service you can
schedule a return time for most attractions that is comparable to the current wait time, so you can enjoy other experiences in the theme park during your wait.
If you use a mobility device, the Walt Disney World website offers this useful list of
Attraction Access Categories, based on if you will need to transfer out of your mobility device, or if you must be ambulatory to experience an attraction. Walt Disney World Resort also offers daily and length of stay
wheelchair and
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) rentals near the entrance to each theme park.
I hope this information was helpful, Gayle. If you have more questions as you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort, I’ll be
here to help you at planDisney!
Make a wish and do as dreamers do,
Kaitlin
