Which rides offer Ride Switch for parents with kids? How does it work? Fast pass required?

Hi, Kaitlin! This is a really great question, so I'm glad you stopped by to chat with us. We frequently used Rider Switch when my younger daughter did not quite measure up to the height requirements of some attractions. This past November, we enjoyed introducing my one-year-old niece to the magical wonder of Walt Disney World Resort, which allowed me to check out the new digital Rider Switch system.

This service works to help families with little ones experience any attraction they wish to ride. Basically, one adult waits with the non-rider while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-rider while the other adult boards the attraction via the FastPass+ queue. To start off, all members of your party, including the non-rider, will approach the attraction's entrance. Notify a Cast Member at the entrance that you wish to use Rider Switch. The Cast Member will then scan the MagicBand or Disney Theme Park Ticket of up to three guests who will be in Party Two (the adult who plans to wait with the non-rider and up to two other guests to ride the attraction with him/her). The Cast Member will provide Party Two with a designated return time, which is usually the current wait time minus 10 minutes. Once Party One returns and they have reached the return time window of use, Party Two will go through the FastPass+ queue to experience the attraction.

Per the terms of use, if Party One experiences the attraction via the FastPass+ queue, then all members of the party should have made a FastPass+ selection for the attraction. The list of current attractions that offer Rider Switch are subject to change at any time, so please consult the list on the Rider Switch page for current information. I hope this helps you plan a magical day with your little one! Please let us know if you have any other questions!
