Hi, Kevin! Thanks so much for choosing to be our Guest. Welcome to planDisney.
It’s always smart to check on attraction availability before your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. Just like
Cinderella Castle gets an occasional royal polish, attractions at Walt Disney World sometimes close for routine refurbishment or magical reimagining. These updates help ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. Sometimes, there are brand-new surprises when attractions reopen better than ever! So whilst it's always a little sad to see your favorites temporarily closed, it’s all part of the magic behind the scenes.
As of now, a few attractions are temporarily unavailable. At Magic Kingdom Park,
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
Astro Orbiter, and
Hall of Presidents are currently closed. Big Thunder won't reopen until 2026, however, we've been promised "a little bit of new magic" when it returns. I'm so excited! Over at EPCOT,
Test Track is being reimagined with a new, exciting design. My son, who has the spirit of Lightning McQueen, cannot wait for this! At Disney's Hollywood Studios,
Disney Junior Play and Dance! will close for a few months shortly after you arrive. That's about it at the time of writing. It's worth noting that attractions may also experience unexpected downtime due to weather or technical issues. Plus, reopening dates aren’t always announced in advance. So I recommend keeping an eye on the
My Disney Experience app for the latest updates as your travel dates approach.
Here’s a helpful tip: if one of your must-do attractions is temporarily unavailable, consider using that time to explore something new! You might discover an overlooked gem—like
Living with the Land at EPCOT or the
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom Park—that ends up becoming a new family favorite.
Have a great time, Kevin!
Mike
