Hey, Cheryl!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Your May trip is right around the corner and your question is very appropriate with all the pop-up showers. Let's help make this trip
unforgettable.
Two years ago we encountered 3 straight days of rain. I'm not talking sprinkles. This was enough water to flood Piglet out of his house from "rushing rising rivulets." Most outdoor attractions will remain open unless the rain is really hard or lightning flashes.
Expect these attractions to close with extreme weather:
Magic Kingdom Park
-Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Astro Orbiter, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Barnstormer
Epcot
-Test Track presented by Chevrolet
Disney's Holywood Studios
-Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Primeval Whirl, TriceraTop Spin, Kali River Rapids - not the best theme park for rain
Disney Dad Tip: To help with light rain, we usually pack ponchos, extra socks, brave the weather and when the weather lifts, we get back to the fun. Of course, there are many
indoor attractions,
shopping opportunities, Broadway-style
shows and
dining experiences to enjoy when the rains fall.
Cheryl, enjoy making many Magical Memories!
