Can we use rider switch for Rise of the Resistance? Also, do you think this attraction is too advanced for an almost 4 year old? Thank you!

    Bright Suns, Ann!

It is exciting to see that you will soon be traveling to the Planet of Batuu. I myself have traveled to the galaxy far far away this past December and was able to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. I am happy to share with you that Rider Switch is currently available for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. However, everyone who plans on accepting the mission from the Resistance, must first join a boarding group. To join a boarding group, you must first tap your MagicBand to enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Once you have entered the theme park, go ahead and fire up the My Disney Experience App and join a boarding group by following the prompts given to you on the homepage of the app. Once your given boarding group is called to board, you can let a Cast Member at the front of the attraction know you would like to use Rider Switch. They will then scan your MagicBand and register your Rider Switch entitlement according to the group separations you wish to do. The first group will then get in line to ride and upon their return, the second group will be able to use the Rider Switch to access the ride.

When it comes to traveling with young Padawans, I have learned from my experience with my own children, that each attraction depends on the child. My children have not accepted this mission from the Resistance yet, but I do know that my fearless thrill-seeking 5-year old son will be eager to ride. The description of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance claims that it is a thrilling adventure in which the Resistance needs your help. As always, the First Order is desperately trying to defeat the Resistance resulting in a mission filled with twists and turns and even a face to face encounter with Kylo Ren! I recommend thinking about what your 4-year old likes and doesn’t like and going from there. I will tell you, sometimes I find that my 5-year old can be braver than me! So, it really just depends on what your child enjoys.

Since Rider Switch is an option, you can always take advantage of that and your youngling will never be without adult supervision. If that is the case, there are many more things to explore within the Planet of Batuu. I recommend grabbing a cup of legendary blue or green milk and visiting Black Spire Outpost as you wait for the traveling party to return from the ride.

May the Force be with you Ann!
