How does rider swap work on Individual Lighting Lanes? My husband and I both want to ride with our daughter but our son 6 yrs will not ride . Do I just buy for the three of us or does daughter need 2 or 6 yrs old have to have a pass also!

Welcome to planDisney, Alan! I'm so glad I can answer your question today before you take off for your trip to Walt Disney World Resort. Rider Switch is going to help your family out so much during your vacation, and I'm happy to walk you through exactly how it works!

If you want to use Rider Switch in conjunction with Individual Lightning Lane selections, everyone who is going to ride the attraction will need to purchase one. So if you, your husband, and your daughter want to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or any other attraction where Individual Lightning Lane entry is available, all three of you will need one Individual Lightning Lane selection each, but your son who is not riding does not need to have one. Here's how it's going to work! When it's time to board, head to the podium at the attraction and let the Cast Member know that you have an Individual Lightning Lane selection but you're also going to use Rider Switch. They will scan your MagicBand+ or ticket and issue you a Rider Switch entitlement. Then, the first adult will go through the Lightning Lane entrance with your daughter while another adult stays back with your son. When the first pair is finished riding, the second adult will scan their ticket or MagicBand+ to use their Rider Switch entitlement. Here's the best part: the second adult can bring a guest with them through the Lightning Lane entrance, so your daughter can ride twice!

Alan, I have a great resource for you to learn more about taking your little ones to Walt Disney World Resort. The Disney Parks Blog just released a great post about everything you need to know about traveling with little ones, including a video from some planDisney Panelists all about how to use Rider Switch! Take a few minutes to watch it, and you'll be all set for your big trip this week.

    Have a magical day, Alan!

In fact, we even opted out of a tropical honeymoon to spend a blissful week at Walt Disney World Resort instead! I'm thrilled to be on the planDisney Panel and I'm excited to share everything I've learned from all of our trips and help you plan a memorable family vacation.  Learn More About Jessica
