Hello! With rider swap, after both groups check in with a cast member, does the party that stays behind have to stay in a designated spot or can they leave grab a snack/explore and come back? Also do tron and rotr have rider swap? Its not listed online?

It’s always a delight when you stop by planDisney with your question for us, Sara! Welcome back!

I’m ecstatic to hear you’ll soon visit The Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have a Guest in your party who cannot or doesn’t want to board an attraction, I love that thanks to the Rider Switch service, you don’t have to miss out!

I’m happy to tell you that both Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise® in Magic Kingdom Park offer the Rider Switch service. Additionally, there isn’t a designated spot for the waiting party; they are free to grab a snack (bonus points if it’s Mickey-shaped!), board a child-friendly attraction, watch a show, etc., while the first party is experiencing the attraction. You do, however, have to all be present when you first sign up for the Rider Switch service at each attraction. After that, you’re free to explore!

Since TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise® works a bit differently, I’m happy to explain this fantastic attraction first. There are two ways to experience this attraction. 1. You can join the Virtual Queue. 2. You can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entry. Because there is no standby queue for this attraction currently, you won’t be able to ask for Rider Switch service without either having a spot in the Virtual Queue or having an Individual Lightning Lane entry. This being said, if you opt for a Virtual Queue for your party and can get it, your entire party can head to the Cast Member at the attraction who is in charge of setting up the Rider Switch service. Once the first party heads through the Virtual Queue and experiences entering the Grid, the waiting party can head to the Lightning Lane entry.

You’ll find Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance now offers Individual Lightning Lane Entry and a standby line. With your entire party, you’ll want to head to the Cast Member in charge of setting up the Rider Switch service, and take turns waiting with the non-riding Guests while the other experiences the attraction. The Rider Switch service has been such an excellent way to get everyone in the party to enjoy themselves!

Wishing you an enchanting visit, Sara!
