How do I make ride reservations

    Hiya, Dan!

Welcome to planDisney. It sounds like you are ready for a magic carpet journey to a whole new “world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy.”

Of course, all Disneyland Resort attractions have a standard standby queue where Guests can wait their turn to enjoy a favorite experience. Many popular attractions at the Disneyland Resort have a second queue called a Lightning Lane, which allows eligible Guests to enjoy the attraction with a shorter wait time.

There are two categories of Lightning Lanes. One category is á la carte for which you may purchase access to the Lightning Lane for each attraction in this category. Currently, the selection of attractions with this Individual Lightning Lane option includes Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park, and Radiator Springs Racers and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure in Disney California Adventure Park. The remaining attractions with Lightning Lane queues are included with the purchase of the Disney Genie+ service, which allows you to book a return time to each available Genie+ eligible Lightning Lane up to one time each day.

To book a Lightning Lane return time, each participating Guest must have already entered a theme park for the day. After your tickets have been activated for the day, make sure they are all linked in the Disneyland mobile app. Visit the Tip Board in the app and search for the attraction you wish to experience. If the available return time indicated matches your plans, tap the “LL” Lightning Lane box to proceed. Next, select the eligible tickets for which you wish to book the return time and confirm your selection. If the attraction is associated with Genie+ and you have not yet purchased that service for the selected tickets, you will be prompted to purchase it at that time. During the process of booking for Individual Lightning Lane attractions, you will be prompted for a payment option as well. A major credit or debit card, Disney Gift Card, or Apple Pay (for Apple iPhone and iPad devices) are accepted forms of payment.

Tony’s Tip: With Genie+, you can book another available Lightning Lane return time the moment you scan your tickets at the Lightning Lane entrance for the selected attraction. Or if your return time is for later in the day, you may book another Lightning Lane return time as soon as two hours after you make your first reservation. So you could potentially have two or more future Lightning Lane return times reserved at the same time. I recommend setting a two-hour timer on your phone to remind you of when you will be eligible to book another return time if you won’t have already scanned into the first attraction by then.

I hope you enjoy the magic of the Disney Genie+ service and other Individual Lightning Lanes at the Disneyland Resort, Dan. Have a wonderful vacation at The Happiest Place on Earth!

    ~Tony
