Welcome back to planDisney, James!
Thank you for stopping by again with another great question. We are thrilled to continue to help you plan pixie-dusted Disney adventures!
The iconic
Walt Disney World Monorail System is an attraction in itself! I am happy to share that you do not need a theme park ticket to travel along this magical highway in the sky. Enjoying
Disney complimentary transportation is actually one of my family’s favorite things to do on a non-park day. What I love about the monorail is that it allows me to conveniently explore the dining and shopping destinations at the
Disney Resorts Collection hotels located on the Resort Monorail line.
If you are driving, I suggest parking at the Magic Kingdom Park parking lot, and then you will have the chance to explore all three separate lines originating from the Transportation and Ticket Center. These include the EPCOT Monorail, the Express Monorail to Magic Kingdom Park, and the Resort Monorail, serving Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Remember, however, that you must have park tickets and a theme park reservation to enter the theme parks. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, take Disney complimentary transportation to either EPCOT or Magic Kingdom Park and then hop on the monorail at the stations located at park entrance.
planDisney tip: While you enjoy your monorail adventure, I recommend stopping by
Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a delicious DOLE Whip, checking out the beautiful murals designed by Mary Blair in the Grand Canyon concourse at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and visiting
Enchanted Rose lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to enjoy delicious drinks and appetizers.
It was a pleasure answering your question, James. Come back to visit us if you have additional questions, and have a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
See ya real soon,
Thiana
