Kaltxi, Scotty! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Avatar Flight of Passage is an absolutely breathtaking attraction – I have cried happy tears on every banshee ride I’ve had so far. I’ve got my fingers crossed that you’ll be able to ride with no issues so you can experience it for yourself.
I checked in with a Cast Member, who pointed out that, on the Accessibility and Other Information section of the attraction’s web page, there is a warning that: “for safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure.” The ride vehicle is kind of like a motorcycle: your calves are restrained, and then you lean forward and hold on to handgrips as your banshee takes flight. My recommendation is that you check in with a Cast Member at the attraction entrance, and together you can determine if it’s safe and permissible for you to ride.
Scotty, I hope your arm is on the road to recovery and you’re feeling great soon. I just visited Walt Disney World with a broken foot, and my advice is to be sure you’re taking enough rest breaks, and drink tons of water, to combat any swelling in the heat and with the movement. I packed a box of large Ziploc bags, which I filled with ice every time I was back at the resort for my foot. Honestly, aside from the swelling, the Disney magic meant that I (mostly) forgot about the pain and just stepped right into having a blast!
Enjoy your visit to Pandora – The World of Avatar. There is so much to explore in the land, and so many tasty treats to try – I highly recommend a stop at Pongu Pongu for a frozen Night Blossom beverage and some Pineapple Lumpia.
Sivako, and have a magical vacation,
Robyn
