How do we reuse a magic band from last year on an upcoming trip this year? Are there benefits or disadvantages to reusing a magic band or getting a new one?

Hello Adam, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great question.

One of my favorite perks offered to Disney Resort Hotel guests is complimentary MagicBands. If you have a MagicBand from a previous trip, it is probably still connected to your My Disney Experience account. Any MagicBands that are listed as active can still be used on future trips. You can check the status of a MagicBand by clicking on the MagicBands and Cards tab in My Disney Experience.

The advantages of getting a new MagicBand for a returning Disney Resort Hotel guests is great because MagicBands are complimentary. You can have more than one active MagicBand associated with your My Disney Experience account. In fact, my collection includes every color of complimentary MagicBands and a few special and limited edition MagicBands. Your family could decide to all get the same color MagicBand, perfect for a day in the parks if you plan to wear matching shirts. The only disadvantage to using an old MagicBand is that the batteries in them only last for a little over 2 years and you cannot replace them. I hope that answers your question. See ya real soon,
