We are returning to WDW for one day in March. We would like to do Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. Is it possible to purchase a park hopper pass for the day and Genie + so we can use lighting lanes? How many lightning lanes can we get at each park? Thanks

    Hi Lauren,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question!

The answer is yes! You can definitely purchase a one day Park Hopper ticket for the members in your party. When you purchase, you can even add Disney Genie+ to each of the tickets for that day ahead of time!

Once you purchase the tickets, you’ll want to reserve your Disney Park Passes for all the members in your party. You’ll just make the reservations for either Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Animal Kingdom and then at 2:00 p.m., you’ll be able to Park Hop. If you’re trying to decide which Theme Park to start in, I suggest beginning in Animal Kingdom because it often closes earlier than Magic Kingdom most nights. You’ll want to check the Walt Disney World Resort Calendar to confirm!

When it comes to Disney Genie+ you can get as many Lightning Lanes as you’d like (subject to availability) and the Lightning Lane option follows you when Park Hopping! So, if you start out in Animal Kingdom, and experience the attractions you want using Disney Genie+, you can reserve a Magic Kingdom Lightning Lane reservation for any time after 2:00 p.m. (subject to availability). You’ll just want to monitor the “My Genie Day” section of the My Disney Experience mobile app to stay up to date on what’s available.

Remember, if you’re trying to use Lightning Lane for rides like Avatar Flight of Passage, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and/or Space Mountain, you’ll have to purchase Individual Lightning Lanes for each member of your party. If you don’t want to use the Individual Lightning Lane for those attractions, Hakuna Matata, you can always wait in the standby line for these attractions as well!

I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is helpful as you prepare for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort trip. If you have any other planning or vacation questions, please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
