Just returned & counting the days till December 2010. I think we are going to buy (rent?) DVC points. It seems to be a better deal for a better room, have you ever done this or have any advice on how to do this? I think we are looking at the AKV.

    Hi Ryan,

Welcome home!  I'm so glad to hear that your trip to Disney World was a success!

The Animal Kingdom Villas are beautiful, and if your children love animals, they will be in awe.  Also, the one bedroom villas offer so much space!

I, myself, am not a member of the Disney Vacation Club, but I have stayed in a DVC Villa.  It is possible to book them just as you would book a regular hotel accommodation.  You can call (407)939-7675 for more information.  This is the route I recommend taking.  It may cost a bit more, but it's worth it to spend a little extra money knowing that I'm dealing directly with Disney staff and nothing will go wrong.

If you do a Google search for "renting DVC points", you'll be able to receive information about this process.  Beware though, it may seem like this is the most economical route to take, but if you go this route, you are at the mercy of other DVC renters.  Disney does not encourage this type of reservation since they cannot help you if you happen to contact a renter who is less than reputable.

Hope this helps.  Have fun planning that next vacation.  I look forward to hearing more from you in the months to come!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
