I am a retired veteran. Can I book 2 rooms at the military rate? 1 for my wife and myself and another for my daughter and her family of 4.

    Ahoy, Richard!

Welcome aboard planDisney! First off, from one military member to another, thank you for your service! Now, let’s jump into your stateroom question and see what options might be available to get you and your crew aboard.

The not-so-magical news is that, in most cases, an Eligible Service Member can only book one stateroom using the military rate. There are a couple of exceptions that could open the door to a second stateroom, such as if your wife is also an Eligible Service Member, or if your immediate family is too large to fit into a single stateroom. Since you’re planning to cruise with your daughter and her family, I’m guessing she is over the age of 21, which means she would no longer qualify as an immediate family member for purposes of this offer.

I know that’s probably not the treasure you were hoping to uncover, but I wouldn’t abandon ship on the idea of booking two staterooms just yet! I recommend keeping an eye on the Special Offers page because, depending on your sailing, you may be able to book your stateroom using the military rate and then book your daughter’s stateroom with another available offer. Finding the right combination of offers can sometimes feel like a case worthy of Basil of Baker Street, but if the clues lead to a deal that gets the whole family aboard, I’d call that a mystery well solved!

It also looks like you may be from California, so depending on where you live and which sailing you choose, the Southern California resident offer may be another option worth exploring if you’re planning to sail from San Diego. Just keep in mind that an eligible Southern California resident would need to be assigned to the stateroom using that offer, so whether it could work for your daughter’s family would depend on who in your crew qualifies and how you arrange the rooms. Special offers can change and new ones pop up fairly frequently, so I’d keep checking as you plan. With a little creativity in the stateroom assignments, you may be able to piece together the right combination without needing Doctor Strange to search 14 million possibilities!

I hope this helps you navigate the military offer and find a way to get the whole family sailing together. Hopefully, the right combination of fares lines up and your next family formation is on the deck of a Disney ship!

Sea ya real soon as summer waves goodbye and autumn magic begins to shine,
