Susan from SC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

As retired military can I purchase tickets for my adult son and granddaughter. Do I have to be there when they use them.

Hello there, Susan, and welcome to planDisney!

Let me first begin with a huge thank you from my military family to yours! We truly appreciate all you’ve done, and so does Disney. They do an incredible job of honoring eligible service members and their families. My family has been fortunate enough to take advantage of these offerings year after year! We are in the early planning stages of planning our next visit

If you’re looking at purchasing the Military Salute Promotional tickets, then yes, you will need to be with them on this trip to activate those tickets for them. Activation can happen at the Disney Springs Ticketing Center or Guest Relations at the front of any of the theme parks. The Cast Member will verify your military ID and activate everyone else’s ticket at this time. Keep in mind that these tickets also need a theme park reservation, so plan and schedule those as well.

Susan, if you don’t want to travel with them, then I recommend taking a look at the current special offers. These savings are just as good, and another great way to help stay on budget for a Disney vacation. There have been times my family has used the special offers instead of the military offerings. It just comes down to what you want to do during your visit and what option works best for you.

When you are ready to book, you can do so online with the current special offers or by visiting your local military ticketing office to purchase the Military Salute promotional tickets. I also recommend calling Walt Disney World to check the availability of the Military Resort offer. It’s just another great way to save! Susan, this resort offer will also require a military ID to be verified at check-in, so please plan for that as well.

I hope this has helped answer your question and allows you to get one step closer to booking that trip. If there’s anything else we can help with, please ask away! Until then, enjoy the planning process, and once again, thank you for your service.

    Magical Memories,

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
