We are retired military and want to gift our son an his family tickets to Disney World/Hotel. We would use our MWR office for military discounted tickets. We are not going to join them in Florida. Are they able to use the tickets without us being there?

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question, Sharon. I also want to offer a heartfelt thank you for your service to our country. Mine is a former military family; I have firsthand experience with the military lifestyle and so I know you deserve our gratitude!

The 4-Day and 5-Day military promotional tickets Disney offers through participating military bases have some specific requirements. One of those requirements is that the eligible service member or his or her spouse is present to activate the tickets upon use. In order to use these tickets during their trip, the retired service member would need to accompany your son’s family. I know that is not the news you were hoping to hear. I’m sorry for having to deliver it.

There are other special offers available that your son and his family might benefit from. These change frequently, so it’s always a good idea to check back for a promotion.

I hope I’ve cleared things up, Sharon. Thank you again for stopping by.
