Are there any restrictions on types of footwear. Can I wear flip flops on all the rides in the parks?

Hello there, and welcome to planDisney, Stacy! I see you'll be headed to The Most Magical Place on Earth soon, and I am so excited for you! Not only will you get to experience all the wonder and enchantment that Walt Disney World has to offer, but you'll get a break from the Pennsylvania winter weather!

I'm happy to let you know that Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules do not prohibit flip-flops. You are permitted to wear whatever shoes you like, with the exception of skates or shoes with built-in wheels. If you ride Soarin' Around the World in EPCOT, you will be asked to leave your flip-flops on the floor before your flight begins. Your shoes will be waiting for you when you land.

I see people in all types of footwear when visiting the parks, but I also see people with regrets. Walt Disney World is massive. Magic Kingdom Park is the smallest of the four major theme parks, yet it covers well over 100 acres. It is not unusual for me to accumulate over 15,000 steps in a day there. I would hate for you to get a blister, so keep that in mind when packing. Additionally, Florida is famous for its heat, but it can experience cold temperatures in the winter. I just checked the forecast for this coming week, and lows are predicted to dip into the 40s and even 30s some mornings!

If you choose to participate in a behind-the-scenes tour or other special program, such as the Wild Africa Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park (which I HIGHLY recommend), you may be asked to wear closed-toed shoes. That information would be communicated to you when you register. This is definitely one of my favorite experiences in all of Walt Disney World. It's a behind-the-scenes tour where you get a better view of some of the animals and learn how Cast Members care for them. It includes professional photos and gourmet African-inspired snacks (which felt more like lunch to me). I think everyone should add this exciting tour to their bucket list!

Stacy, I sincerely hope that you (and anyone you will be traveling with) have the most magical vacation. I know you are going to make some incredible memories. If there's anything else we can help with, please come back to planDisney!
