Hiya, Elaine! Welcome to
planDisney.
I’m so glad you’re checking these specifics before your trip. There is nothing worse than getting to a security checkpoint and having to either walk back to your car or leave something behind. Let’s see what the word is from Disney on purses and backpacks!
There is less specification about the type than about the size. The
Disneyland Resort Rules state that “Suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park.” So get your tape measure out and make sure you have the appropriate size. I’ll also point out that the rules specify that you are not allowed to bring in suitcases of any kind, large coolers, or glass containers. Remember, all bags are subject to search at the security checkpoints.
While we’re talking about storage, don’t forget that you can
rent lockers at various locations around the resort. There are lockers in the Esplanade to the left of the entrance to Disneyland and to the left of the entrance to California Adventure. There are also lockers inside both parks - on Main Street U.S.A. for Disneyland, and Buena Vista Street for Disney California Adventure. The convenience is well worth the small fee.
Elaine, you’re in for a treat, literally! You’re arriving the day after the
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival begins. This might be my favorite festival! Check out the
Disney Parks Blog Foodie Guide that just came out today! It will get you all sorts of pumped for the delicious food and drink you’ll get to try. Be sure to pick up a
Sip and Savor so you can sample some of the awesome offerings.
I hope your trip is a happy and memorable one! You’re definitely going to fly through security. Come on back to
planDisney if you have any other planning questions. I hope you have a magical day!
