Any restrictions on footwear on rides?

    Hi Walter!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

When thinking about your question, I tried to remember all the types of shoes I've worn when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. I've worn flip flops, sandals, Ugg boots (on the one day it was actually cold enough in Florida to need them), cowboy boots, running shoes, sneakers, dressy flats, and rain boots, to name a few.

The only footwear restriction I can think of is on Soarin' in Epcot. If you're wearing loose fitting shoes such as flip flops, or anything that may fall off your feet once the seats lift off the floor, the Cast Members ask that you leave your shoes on the floor in front of you during the ride. Other than that, I can't think of any other restrictions about footwear.

My number one rule about footwear on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is comfort. You'll be doing a lot of walking, and comfort is KEY. You always want to make sure you wear shoes that are well-broken-in, so as not to rub blisters on your feet. I've made the mistake before of wearing new shoes to the theme parks, and I promise I will never do that again!

I hope this information is helpful in your planning, and that you find the perfect pair of shoes for your Disney vacation. Have a magical day! - Diane W.
