Hi! What restaurants would be most enjoyable for a family of four with a 2 1/2 yr old, and an infant to eat at? How far in advance to we need to make reservations? Thanks!

The great thing about travelling to Disney World is that almost every restaurant you go to caters to children.  When my children were the same age, we had a great time at character meals -- actually, we still enjoy them.  Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom and Donald's Safari Breakfast at Animal Kingdom are two of our favorites.  Also, if your children are Playhouse Disney fans, you may enjoy Play 'N Dine at Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood Studios.

Keep in mind, some children are fearful of the larger than life characters.  My youngest was a little tentative at first.  She liked the characters from a distance but didn't want any one on one interaction.  The characters are pretty good at knowing when to keep their distance, and by the end of our vacation, our little one was hugging Mickey!

You can begin making reservations 90 days in advance, and I recommend calling as early as possible.  Character dining is very popular and tends to fill up quickly.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
