Hi Betty,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
On our most recent trip we dined at 'Ohana and California Grill during the Magic Kingdom
Happily Ever After show. Wishes has ended and Happily Ever After is the new fireworks and projection show. I loved both 'Ohana and California Grill experiences but for different reasons. I preferred the view from California Grill because we could see the entire castle. From 'Ohana, there were trees obstructing our view of the castle so we could not see the projections on the castle. Having said that, 'Ohana has activities during dinner that your little ones might enjoy. Our girls loved watching the hula lesson. The food at 'Ohana was served family style with cast members bringing around different meat selections throughout the meal. We loved the food at 'Ohana.
The commute is relatively easy for either of them. From Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you would simply need to take bus or water transportation to Magic Kingdom, then take the resort monorail to Disney's Contemporary Resort for California Grill or Disney's Polynesian Resort for 'Ohana. From the Contemporary Resort, you can also walk to Magic Kingdom. It is about a 10 minute walk.
My word of caution - when we dined at California Grill, we finished dinner about an hour after the show ended but when we tried to catch the monorail back to Disney's Polynesian Resort, the monorails were packed with people leaving Magic Kingdom. On the way back, it might be easier for you to take a water taxi from either resort to Magic Kingdom, then a bus or water taxi to your resort. Remember that you could walk from Disney's Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom.
Betty, transportation schedules are subject to change, so double-check when you arrive!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
