Hi there, Barbara! Thank you so much for your question. We're happy you're here!
I'm so happy to see that you'll be visiting
Walt Disney World Resort this December! This is one of my favorite times of year to visit, from the cooler temperatures to the
happy holiday events. I know you're putting that finishing touch of pixie dust on your magical plans and want to make sure that your dining reservations will be good to go before you arrive – which is an excellent idea! Unfortunately, without knowing which restaurant you're planning on dining at, I'm unable to provide you with some specific advice and answers. But Hakuna Matata! No worries! I still have some ideas that will help point you in the right direction so you don't miss a minute of the magic. In fact, I traveled to Walt Disney World Resort last May with my mom who has a mobility disability and requires the use of an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV). In my experience, many restaurants were able to accommodate her need to stay seated in her scooter.
- First, when making your dining reservations, you should be able to add Accessibility Requests to make sure that you can be appropriately accommodated. When you make your dining reservations, you can also select any Dietary Requests, such as avoiding peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. It's always a good idea to remind Cast Members of these requests when you arrive at the restaurant, too!
- Additionally, if you're using the My Disney Experience app (which I recommend that you do!), you'll be able to complete Mobile Dine Check-In for select restaurant reservations! If this feature is available, you'll be prompted on your app to check in for your reservation, where you can include a need for mobility accessibility.
- Take a look at the services for Guests with mobility disabilities so you know all of the accommodations that are available to you. If you're concerned about accessibility at any of the restaurants you'll be dining at, please feel free to call Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com.
- Walt Disney World Resort takes food allergies very seriously. For common allergy-friendly requests, Guests can speak with the chef or a Special Diets-trained Cast Member and these requests can often be accommodated right then and there. However, Guests who either have four or more allergy-friendly requests, require pureed meals, or adhere to a medically restrictive diet may want to reach out to the Special Diets Team within 14 days of arrival by emailing Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com.
- If you have any questions about your upcoming trip, you're always welcome to call a friendly Cast Member! They'll be happy to listen and provide you with the next best steps that are available to you.
If you have any other questions, please write to us again! We're always happy to help.
Wishing you the very merriest,
Michelle
