Rest of my group wants DDP, my 7 yr old has autism. She has no allergy/restrictions but what she eats is limited (doesn't eat most of what is a typical kids menu). How flexible is table service on letting her have something off menu/ altering a dish?

Hi Hilary!  We use the Disney Dining Plan while on vacation at Walt Disney World a lot!  I have a very picky 6 year old daughter.  I have found that most of the restaurants on Walt Disney World property are so accommodating!  Because your daughter is 7, she will be required to order off of the children's menu when there is one available.  However, we have adapted my daughters meal several times with no problem.

To make it easier on you, I would suggest looking into the all you can eat options like 'Ohana, Tusker House, Cape May Cafe and several others.  They have a variety of different offerings and always have a kids section.  That makes it easy for us and I am sure you can find something your daughter will enjoy as well.  At 'Ohana, if your child doesn't care for the all you can eat meats that are served, there is a special menu they can choose something from.  We recently ate at Boma and my daughter wasn't feeling well and couldn't find anything she liked on the buffet. I asked our server if she could get chicken nuggets instead.  They were so accommodating to us and brought them out right away.  We have done meal altering for her several times with no problem.  When you make your dining reservations you can also let them know that you may need some special dining options for your child and they will make a note of that on your account.

I think you should give the Disney Dining Plan a try.  You will be surprised, in a good way, how accommodating the restaurants are.  If you have any other questions regarding your trip or the Disney Dining Plan, feel free to ask me.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
